Protect Your eye from Computer Screen!!

Protect Your eye from Computer Screen!!

F.lux is a computer program that adjusts a computer display's color temperature according to its location and time of day, based on a user specified set of longitude and latitude geographical coordinates, a ZIP code, or a city name, as well as featuring manual user control.

The program was designed to reduce eye strain during nighttime use and to prevent disruption of normal sleep patterns.

f.lux fixes this: it makes the color of your computer's display adapt to the time of day, warm at night and like sunlight during the day.

t's even possible that you're staying up too late because of your computer. You could use f.lux because it makes you sleep better, or you could just use it just because it makes your computer look better.

13 Google Search Tricks

1. Check flight status
Is my flight on time? First I'll have to head to the airline's website, search for my origin city and destination city or plug in my flight number and then I'll be able to scroll for my flight status. Or … skip that entire process by typing my flight number into Google to see if there's yet another delay.

2. Decide what's for dinner
For those who are counting calories or just can't decide what to eat, Google can help you make an informed decision. Simply type in "hot dog vs. pizza," for instance, and the search engine will provide a complete nutritional breakdown.

3. Keep your timing in check
Ready. Set. Go! Type "set timer to 13 minutes and 13 seconds" and the clock immediately starts to wind down. This is a quick solution if you're waiting to make an important phone call or pick the kids up from school in a few minutes. The timer is especially useful if you don't have your smartphone handy to check the time or use the built-in stopwatch.

4. Seamlessly search your favorite sites
By using the "site:keyword" search, Google will only give results for that website. For example, simply enter the phrase "site:facebook.com FIFA" and you will get only articles on the Facebook website that are about FIFA.

5. Decide what's for dinner
For those who are counting calories or just can't decide what to eat, Google can help you make an informed decision. Simply type in "hot dog vs. pizza," for instance, and the search engine will provide a complete nutritional breakdown.

6. Get instant weather forecasts
Similarly, you can get the weather forecast of any city just by typing the city followed by the word forecast. This feature makes it easy to prep for that last minute vacation, without the hassle of going to a weather site, searching the ZIP code and then selecting the specific time-range you're looking for, you can now find all the necessary forecast information in one simple step.

7. Play an old game, in a new way
Dying for a blast from the past? Type "Atari Breakout" into Google Images and your newest Internet distraction will suddenly appear.

8. Streamline your search
Narrow down your search results by isolating what you don't want to see. If you type a minus sign (-) before a word, Google will exclude it from the search completely. This makes weeding through your first page of search results much more comprehensive and accurate, the first time around.

9. Convert like a pro
Kilometers, miles, yards–you name it and Google will convert it. Plug in the metric you're looking to convert and Google will do all the calculations. Even readjust the data after your initial search.

10. See the screen a bit differently
While this tip isn't necessarily practical–it's definitely interesting. Tilt your screen by searching the word "tilt." This is one of many fun additions built in by Google engineers.

11.Monitor the sun

Expand your worldly view by checking on the exact times for sunrise and sunset–anywhere, at any time.

12.Calculate your tab
Quickly type "tip calculator" into Google and in seconds, calculating the exact tip for your meal, based upon a personalized percentage and the number of people dining. While there are apps that can provide a similar service, utilizing the search engine might just save an extra step (or extra 99 cents in the app store).

13. Flip a virtual coin
Toss difficult decisions out the window. Press the microphone icon (or type) on Google's search bar, and say "flip a coin" or "heads or tails." This feature lets Google flip a coin for you when you don't have one on hand.

Cyanogen is Going to Build a Better Mobile OS

Cyanogen, best known for its FOSS Android-based OS, CyanogenMod, soon will provide caller ID screening and spam blocking directly from the native dialer on Cyanogen OS, the commercial version of its operating system.
These capabilities will be provided through the company's global partnership with Truecaller.
They will be baked into future smartphone devices preloaded with Cyanogen OS.
"I'm wondering whether Truecaller is addressing an actual need of smartphone users," mused Werner Goertz, a research director with Gartner.
Placing telemarketing calls to wireless phone numbers is illegal in most cases, and caller ID is available to smartphone users even without Truecaller, he told LinuxInsider.
On the other hand, the partnership "is a logical step" for Cyanogen, said Stephanie Van Vactor, an analyst at ABI Research.
It "strives to give the power of customization and choice to users," she told LinuxInsider, and Truecaller "provides a user with another tool to customize the phone calls they want to receive or not receive."

Privacy Issues

Users may have concerns about Truecaller's privacy policy, which "is very difficult to find on its website," said Goertz.
The policy states Truecaller will collect the user's location, IP address, the smartphone's unique ID number, the operating system used, and the screen resolution when its app is installed.
That is monetizable information, Goertz said.

Taking On Android and the Big G

Cyanogen wants nothing less than to take Android away from Google, CEO Kirt McMaster reportedly has said.
The company has venture funding -- the latest being US$79 million in Series C funding raised in March.
Cyanogen is collaborating with Qualcomm to bring the features and UI enhancements of Cyanogen OS, its commercial OS, to some Qualcomm Snapdragon processors.
The company also has entered a strategic partnership with Microsoft to integrate Office 360 and other Microsoft apps into Cyanogen OS -- a move widely seen as a bid to displace Google Apps from that operating system.

Chrome Web Store Gives Bad Extensions the Boot

Google has given its Chrome Store a spring cleaning, ridding it of more than 200 browser add-ons and extensions that may have been delivering spyware and malware to users. "Obviously, they need to put more work into screening of uploads to the Chrome Store if it should be considered a trusted source," noted Martin Zetterlund, founder of ScrapeSentry.

Google recently purged some 200 extensions from its Chrome Store inventory. Extensions and add-ons let users add functions and features to the Chrome Web browser, but bad extensions can expose users to a greater risk of spyware and malware. A major problem with many browser add-ons is ad injectors.
The clean-up resulted from an extensive search for embedded code that violates Google's policies, triggered by increasing user complaints.
Google has been studying add-on security risks with a team at the University of California, Berkeley, and will release a full report of its findings on May 1.
"It is not so much the security of the Chrome browser as the security in having an open store for downloading extensions," noted Martin Zetterlund, founder of ScrapeSentry.
"I am sure Google automatically screens any extension uploaded -- but the bad guys will, of course, do their best to trick automatic screening," he told LinuxInsider.

iOS 9: all you need to know about Apple's new operating system.

Apple prepares to launch iOS 9 at its Worldwide Developers Conference 2015 in June, we round up the key features you need to know about.

Will I be able to update to iOS 9?

iOS 9 will be compatible with iOS devices which use Apple’s A5 processor, meaning all iPhones up from the iPhone 4s, the iPad 2 onwards, all three iPad minis and the fifth generation of the iPod touch.

Force Touch support

Force Touch, first introduced with the Apple Watch and updates to the MacBook and MacBook Pro lines, is a clever way of using a single surface to trigger multiple functions depending on how much pressure you apply. Force Touching an Apple Watch, for example, pulls up the menu to change the watch face, while Force clicking using a trackpad reveals locations when used on maps, previews a file's contents or adds an event to a calendar invite, and so on.

The integration of Force Touch into iPhone and iPad is unlikely to receive significant attention at WWDC, as Apple is probably planning to announce it in more detail alongside the next generation of iPhones expected in September. History suggests the new models will be incremental improvements to the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, meaning they could be named iPhone 6s and 6s Plus respectively, and will stick to the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch display size format. The new models are alleged to come in a new rose gold hue and sport a 12MP rear-facing camera, up from the previous iPhones' 8MP lens.

New security system Rootless

Another rumoured addition to iOS 9 is all-new security system Rootless, designed to put an end to customers jailbreaking their iPhones, or on the flip side, malicious individuals hacking into them. Apple has been keen to emphasise the company's commitment to preserving user privacy and data protection in the wake of last year's celebrity nude picture leak, in which a hacker claimed to have extracted intimate pictures of some of Hollywood's biggest female stars from Apple's online storage service iCloud.
Rootless has been designed to prevent malware and protect user information, according to 9to5Mac. The kernel-level feature will work across both iOS and OS X, though it can supposedly be disabled on OS X, and will prevent even administrator-level users from accessing certain protected files - which could potentially spell the end for jailbreaking iOS devices to install unauthorised apps. It appears as if Rootless will need to be opted into on OS X.

Trusted Wi-Fi

A second security-focused feature is also said to be in the pipeline, Trusted Wi-Fi. Macs and iOS devices will use more heavily encrypted connections when attempting to join unknown routers, while connecting to authorised networks without the need for additional security measures.

Skype Begins Dismantling the Language Barrier

Microsoft on Monday announced the first phase of its Skype Translator preview program, which initially will facilitate conversations between English and Spanish speakers. The translator will convert spoken words both ways.
It also will translate instant messages in 40 languages. Translations occur in near-real time.
Participants must run Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 Technical Preview on a desktop or tablet. You can sign up for the preview.
Children in two schools -- Peterson School in Mexico City and Stafford Elementary School in Tacoma, Washington -- have tried out Skype Translator, Microsoft said.

How Skype Translator Works

Skype Translator's automatic speech recognition conducts a deep neural network analysis of what was said in a conversation, comparing the words spoken against snippets of millions of previously recorded samples.
The audio then is transformed to a series of words in text that apparently correspond to the meaning of what was stated.

Microsoft Starts Taking Windows 10 Reservations

Microsoft on Monday confirmed that Windows 10 will be released July 29 as a free upgrade for PCs and tablets running Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, and on new Windows 10 devices.
The OS will be available for other devices later this year. However, Microsoft hasn't indicated which of the at least seven Windows 10 builds will be released.
Windows 10 includes the Start menu, which was brought back in Win 8.1 after its exclusion from Win 8 outraged many users.

New Features in Windows 10

Windows 10 features Microsoft's Cortana personal digital assistant.
Cortana is integrated into Microsoft Edge, the new browser built from the ground up for Windows 10.
The new OS also includes Windows Hello, which greets users by name. It includes biometric authentication so users can log into their PCs without a password.
Windows 10 runs the full Office 2016 suite, plus new, Universal Windows applications for Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook that offer a consistent, touch-first experience across a range of devices.
The OS also features Windows Continuum, which transforms desktop applications for mobile device use and vice versa, and lets Windows phones be used as PCs.
